Intaglio

These are intaglio prints, made using time-honored techniques that date back to masters like Albrecht Dürer, William Blake, and Francisco de Goya. The process begins with drawing on a polished copper plate, then meticulously engraving with metal tools and etching with acid. Once finished, the plate is inked and passed through a press, which transfers a mirrored version of the image onto paper. This process can be repeated until the copper plate begins to wear and the image loses its fidelity.

I made these prints between 2022 and 2024, under the mentorship of artist Gilberto Guerrero Sánchez at his workshop in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
